David Murray — artist information
David Murray doesn't just play the saxophone; he wrestles with it, coaxing out torrents of ecstatic energy. His tenor sax, a force of nature, surges and swoops, sometimes a molten roar, other times a whisper that unravels the very fabric of the air. The collective instrumentation, a constantly evolving organism, provides a thrillingly unpredictable bedrock, shifting from intricate jazz dialogues to explosive free improvisation. To witness Murray live is to be swept up in a sonic storm, a visceral journey where the boundaries of melody and rhythm dissolve into pure, unadulterated sound.
