Blackpool — City information

Blackpool pulses with a grit that defines its underground scene, shifting away from the polished promenade to the uncompromising riffs heard at The Waterloo and Bootleg Social. While the Empress Ballroom remains a cavernous temple for legacy acts, the city’s heart beats hardest for hard rock, glam, and punk, evidenced by local heroes like Massive Wagons and the sheer intensity of the Rebellion Festival. You’ll find the atmosphere thick with leather and distortion, whether you're catching a late-night set at The Union or diving into the chaotic energy of ROXFEST. The gig culture here thrives on a seasonal ebb and flow; the winter months draw crowds into intimate, sweat-drenched club rooms, while the summer air is often rattled by the aggressive, high-octane sounds of visiting touring bands. It is a city that doesn't just host live music—it demands it, providing a visceral stage for everything from gritty glam-rock revivals to raw, modern punk.
