Hurricane Festival: Every Lineup Back to 2013

Ask anyone who has been to Scheeßel more than twice which bands they saw in which year, and watch the answer fall apart. The mud runs together. The years run together. Somewhere in there is a set that mattered, and the name is gone.

Gigvault carries ten Hurricane editions, from 2013 to 2026, with 687 billed appearances between them. That is enough to reconstruct almost any weekend you spent there — and it is a much better memory aid than your own.

What is actually in there

The deepest year is the oldest one. 2013 lists 102 acts — Arctic Monkeys, Alt-J, Belle and Sebastian, Ben Howard, Archive, Arkells and Billy Talent among them. If you were nineteen and on the Eichenring that June, the full bill is sitting there waiting for you to tick your way through it.

2016 is the Rammstein year: the edition lists Rammstein, Mumford & Sons, The Prodigy, Bloc Party, James Bay, K.I.Z. and Trailerpark. 2014 carries Arcade Fire, Bad Religion, Angus & Julia Stone, Band of Horses and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

The reconstruction, step by step

You do not need to remember names. You need to recognise them.

1. Open the Hurricane Festival page and pick the year. 2. Read down the bill. Recognition is far easier than recall — most people find they remember six or seven more acts than they could have named. 3. Tick the ones you saw. Each becomes its own entry, with the right date and the right place.

That last point is the one that matters at a festival. Twelve acts is twelve concerts, not one line saying Hurricane 2019. Each one keeps its own artist, its own photo, its own note — and the small band you caught by accident in the afternoon ends up in your history next to the headliner.

Your ticket does the typing

If you still have the ticket, or a wristband, or a photo of the running order board by the entrance, that is faster than any search box. Photograph it and Gigvault reads the date and the event off it. Printed running orders work the same way as tickets.

For a weekend where you barely touched your phone, this is usually the whole job: one photo on the way home, the rest filled in from the bill.

The twin festival nobody accounts for

Hurricane has a southern twin, Southside in Neuhausen ob Eck, on the same weekend. Everyone knows the bills are similar. What is easy to underestimate is how similar — measured across the editions Gigvault holds for both:

In 2024, 68 of Hurricane's 70 acts also played Southside. Two things follow from that. If you have been to both over the years, your history will show the same bands twice with different places and dates — which is correct, and worth keeping: they were different shows. And if you cannot remember which of the two you were at in a given year, the bill will not settle it. The ticket will.

Why bother in September

Because the answer gets worse every year you wait, and because the bill is only complete while somebody maintains it. The 2013 edition is in Gigvault with all 102 acts thirteen years after the fact. The weekend you had last June will be just as hard to recall in 2039 — and just as easy to fix now.

Once the years are in, your concert stats stop being an estimate. Festivals move them more than anything else: one weekend on the Eichenring can outweigh a whole winter of single shows.
