First concert: Green Day in Hanover, 2009. She was 11.
Best night: Chelsea Grin, front row, Hanover.
Festival must-haves: a way to charge your phone and a bum bag.
Next up: Dayseeker in December.

Pia has been going to concerts since she was 11. Her concert city is Hamburg, her hometown club is the MUSA in Göttingen, and she has lost count of her festivals. This is her story, mostly in her own words.

The first one: Green Day, 2009

The first big concert Pia remembers is Green Day in Hanover in 2009. She was 11, and they were her absolute favorite band. “I’m sure there were some before, but I can’t remember.”

What stuck: Billie Joe sang the first part of one of their most iconic songs twice — she thinks it was “Holiday” — and had to improvise his way out. “Guess he forgot.” And the tour shirt from that night? She still misses it.

The night she never forgets

Chelsea Grin in Hanover, back when Alex Koehler was still their vocalist. Pia was 15 or 16 and right in front of the stage.

During “Lilith”, Alex knelt down right in front of her and sang the next line straight at her.

It was pure magic.

Pia’s tips

Her venueMUSA, Göttingen

“The sound is okay. You can see best near the stage, of course, because it’s a small location.”

Plus plenty of small ones that sadly don’t exist anymore, like Destruction Derby and Knockdown.

Her festival tip
Make sure you can charge your phone. Festival days are long, and you need it all the time.
Bring a bum bag for your phone, money and the rest.
Going alone? Just do it! It really is worth it. In the end you’d be sad you missed it, and you easily meet so many awesome people at the shows 🤘

Pia & Gigvault

Before Gigvault, her concerts lived in her camera roll. “I always took so many videos, but they always got lost when I got a new phone. Or I forgot they even exist 😂”
