Michael Wilbur — artist information
The saxophone becomes a kinetic force here, weaving razor-sharp jazz improvisations into a thick, hypnotic atmosphere that feels both frantic and meticulously calculated. The sound swells from hushed, smoke-filled whispers into frenetic, brass-heavy crescendos that rattle the ribcages of everyone in the room. As the melodies splinter and reconstruct, the audience is pulled into a trance, swaying in lockstep with the jagged, rhythmic urgency pouring from the stage. It is an immersive, high-voltage dialogue between breath and woodwind, leaving the air humming long after the final note dissipates.
Genres: jazz, saxophone.
